New Diet Pill Contrave Helps You Lose Weight
There is a new diet drug that may receive federal approval. The researcher blended two known drugs together (they are not known as diet drugs), and the new pill is showing good results.
A Dr. Carolyn Apovian, the director of Nutrition & Weight Management program, Boston Medical Center, believes many people gain the weight they lost back because they are genetically programmed to be obese.
Dr. Apovian, a weightloss expert, studied Contrave the first of it kind diet pill. It targets food addiction and is two drugs put together — an anti-depressant and an anti-addiction drug. Both of these pills are already marketed. With them on the market, Dr. Apovian has an idea of the safety of these pills.
There have been studies with people using Contrave and it seems the combination of the two drugs may help people lose weight. Some showed a weight loss of 5-10 percent. Heavier people lost more.
Although the results of the studies do exceed the FDA requirements of what is a diet pill or weight loss drug, some weight loss experts are still cautious.
They feel Contrave may only be moderately effective with a majority of patients, yet may work well with a specific type of obesity problem.
